Meet The Hosts - Brandon S. Hire & Neil McDougall!

My name is Brandon S. Hire, and I'm one your hosts. Pleased to meetyou. I'm more than just the host of this podcast, I've also been a solo artist, frontman for Day Nine, and a freelance producer and studio engineer. Here's a little bit about why I decided to add podcaster to my resume.

I had previously published a podcast called "Music Industry Tips".Each episode included 3 segments, and each segment outlined apromotional tip for independant artists. I was new to podcasting (butlets face it, so was everyone else at that time). I eventually ran outof ideas and stopped producing episodes, although the previous ones arestill up on the web (check it out on iTunes).

In early 2007, I began listening to a podcast called "Home Recording Odyssey".This podcast was for beginners, and run by a man in Australia namedAndrew Brierly. In the show, Andrew would teach his audience what hewas learning at that time, as he considered himself to be a beginner aswell. This sparked my interest in other recording-themed podcasts, and I began listening to them religiously. Home Recording Odyssey allowed their listeners to submit segments to the show, and I included a segment in episode 34 about amp modeling.

I noticed one thing lacking in the podcasts I would listen to aboutrecording. None of them were focusing on heavy music. A fan of heavymusic myself, and knowing a thing or two about recording it, I begancontemplating starting my own podcast focused on recording rock andmetal. After much soul searching and debate, I decided to give it a go.And so, The Metal Shop Podcast was born!
